Pricing & Billing FAQ
What happens when I hit the usage limit for my pricing tier?
If you are on the free tier, when you hit 2,500 requests in a day you begin to receive a 402 HTTP response code. See the details in the API docs. If however you are a paying customer, when you reach your limit we do ... nothing. The limits are "soft" in that if you need more requests on a given day, nothing happens, you can keep geocoding. If you cross the limit repeatedly then the following month we ask you to move to the next higher tier.
What form of payments do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, billing/invoicing is done via the third-party invoicing service Quaderno. Which in turn sits on top of payment processor Stripe (See detailed security information). OpenCage never sees or accesses your credit card number.
Do I need to provide a credit card to sign-up for the free tier?
How long can I use the free trial?
As long as you like.
Can I just use multiple free trial accounts?
No, don't do that. The free trial is designed as a way for you to test our service. Please do not use it in anything mission critical. If you need production level reliability, become a customer.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel at any time, for any reason. You'll still have full access until the end of the current billing period.
Can I downgrade plans if I no longer need so much?
Yes, you can switch whenever you like from the next billing period.
Am I locked into a long-term contract?
What sort of SLA can you offer?
We will gladly provide paid clients with free additional requests to make up for an outage. That said, in 18 months of beta testing this situation never occured. Over the last year the service has had 99.9% uptime. We use the independent 3rd party service StatusCake to measure uptime of our site and API, please have a look at our recent performance. If you have some particularly demanding requirements please let us know. We like a challenge.
I don't want a subscription, I just need one-off geocoding. Do you offer that?
If it isn't urgent, we encourage you to spread it over time using the free tier. If it is urgent we encourage you to purchase a monthly plan and then cancel after you've finished.
Are there any setup fees?

What about VAT?
All prices are inclusive of any applicable VAT. We are a UK business, our VAT number is GB251995573. You will recieve a valid VAT invoice by e-mail for each purchase.
Are there discounts for non-profits, students etc?
No, though like everyone else you can get two months free if you sign up for an annual plan.
Can you bill me in my currency instead of USD?
Possibly, it depends which currency. We are happy to bill our customers in any major currency. If your currency is not in the dropdown above please get in touch.
Credit cards are a pain, can you invoice me instead?
Yes for annual plans, no for monthly plans. That said, we prefer you pay us by credit card. We are working on supporting other payment methods. If paying by credit card is stopping you from becoming a customer please get in touch and we will find a solution.
Is my credit card information secure?
We never get your credit card details, they are stored only by Stripe, one of the largest payment processors in the world.
One million requests per day? Please, that is for children, I need way more than that.

First sign up for a free account. Then in your account dashboard select "Upgrade". For medium and large plans please contact us, we'll send you a few quick quesitons to make sure we understand your needs and then send you a payment page where you'll input your payment details.
